A historically horrendous afternoon in Kansas City as the Bills defeat the Chiefs 54-31. The game started out well enough for the Chiefs as Jamal Charles scored on the opening possession of the game on a 36 yard pass from Tyler Thigpen, going up early 7-0.

Buffalo would answer right back scoring the first seven of a record 54 points on a one yard Marshawn Lynch touchdown dive. After a Kansas City three and out Buffalo would take their first lead of the game on a Ryan Lindell 21 yard field goal. Larry Johnson would set up the next score with a 63 yard run up the middle finally being caught from behind and drug down at the two yard line.

Thigpen would finish off the drive with a touchdown toss to Tony Gonzalez who would go over a 100 yards for the 25th time in his career moving in to first place all time among tightends.

Down 14-10 Buffalo would catch their 1st break of the game, Jamal Charles would fumble at his own 22 yard line. The Bills would only be able to cash the fumble and the field position into three points with a 39 yard field goal. Then the wheels started to fall off for the Chiefs, Tyler Thigpen would be picked off by Leodis McKelvin and have it returned to the house with Buffalo taking the lead 20-14.

Kansas City would answer back with a Connar Barth field goal to narrow the Bills lead to three points. Buffalo would match the field goal on their ensuing drive then McKelvin would pick off Thigpen again setting up a 15 yard Trent Edwards touchdown scamper to take the game to half at 30-17.

The Chiefs would not be able to recover from the Trent Edwards TD run it would be the play that mentally defeated them. Buffalo kept their momentum rolling to open the second half going 67 yards in four plays scoring on another Trent Edwards TD run. The next drive would see Thigpen?s third turnover of the game as he fumbled on a QB scramble setting up another Buffalo field goal putting the game out of reach at 40-17 with 10 minutes left in the third quarter.

The Chiefs would pull within 16 after a 45 yard Thigpen to Bradley TD pass but Buffalo would continue to answer right back with a eight yard Trent Edwards to Josh Reed TD pass. Down by 23 points the Chiefs would try to answer back going for it on fourth down only to be stopped on their own 44 yard line setting the Bills up with great field position.

The Bills would convert the field position into points as Edwards capped off the Bills scoring for the afternoon at 54 points after a 17 yard TD pass. Down by 30 points 54-24, with nine minutes left coach Herm Edwards elected to pull Thigpen and insert QB Quinn Gray for the remainder of the garbage time.

Playing against a soft zone defense, Gray would go 7 for 8 passing gaining 76 yards and found Dwayne Bowe for a three yard TD to finish off the scoring 54-31. The Bills move on to 6-5 and are still in the thick of the playoff hunt the Chiefs meanwhile will move to 1-10 and continue to search for answers in a dismal season.
